For last 2 months or so, one after another fake doctors are being spotted in entire West Bengal. It’s pretty alarming that some dishonest people don’t even mind projecting themselves as doctors even though they are not fit to be an assistant for a reputed doctor. They are faking everything starting from degrees, identity and all. There are cases where genuinely experienced and skilled doctors lose confidence while treating critical patients. But these fake doctors are pretty confident irrespective of what actually has happened to the patient. Does anyone know why this is happening?

No of genuine doctors is pretty less than what it should be

The number of qualified doctors that we produce every year is significantly less than the population we have. So there is huge demand supply gap in this industry. Some dishonest people used this opportunity as a gold mine knowing fully well that their medication or related treatments may endanger the patient. This is the level of ethics today. However, our society and the system should concentrate on increasing the seats of medical entrances.

Ignorance of state medical authorities

How could the medical authorities not know about this? Common people may make mistakes but monitoring agencies should be there to track who is doing what.

Political connection and undue advantage

While a single political party cannot be blamed, opportunists take shelter in political shade and enjoys all sorts of undue advantages

Lower awareness of common people

Common people should be more aware of who they are visiting and what are the reviews/credentials of the doctor. Government should be spreading awareness to the common people.
